Miffy!

I was so honoured a few weeks ago when my all time favourite cake idol and past teacher, Naomi Henderson of Hello Naomi referred one of her Melbourne based clients to me.

This gorgeous Miffy cake was inspired by one of Naomi's Miffy designs, and was a white chocolate mud cake with ombre pink layers on the inside.

I hope that I did Naomi proud, and that the two lovely little girls who the cake was for enjoy it just as much as I did making it!

Class with Jacqueline Butler of Petalsweet

I was so unbelievably lucky to travel to San Diego, USA at the end of March to spend three days, one-on-one, with the amazingly talented Jacqueline Butler of Petalsweet.

I have always admired Jacqueline's work with hand crafted sugar flowers, and for those who have not yet had the pleasure of seeing her work, you MUST visit her page.  You really will be blown away by the intricate details of her flowers and just how lifelike they are.  Truly works of art!

Jacqueline herself was such a down to earth and lovely person, and extremely patient when teaching me how to make some of her beautiful blooms (not to mention looking after me during my sudden onset of food poisoning... holy embarrassment!).

I can't wait to be able to get some more practice with these gorgeous flowers over the coming months, and will be sure to be the first student in class when Jacqueline next visits Melbourne!!

All you need is Love

Its official - I am the worst blogger on the planet!  As you can see only two posts ago, I vowed that this year I was going to blog more, and ta-da! it's May already and we're only up to post number 3.....

Anyway, despite my terrible blogging efforts, I wanted to share this gorgeous little "All you need is Love" cake that I have created before, but this time in a different colour scheme.

I was so excited to finally be able to recreate some of the flowers that I learnt while I was overseas in San Diego, USA with Jacqueline Butler from Petalsweet and I think they just looked so elegant and sweet on top of this little wedding cake.  They are a cosmos flower and a ranunculus (two of my favourite flowers).

Tangerine Dream

Well, my goal was to blog more this year, and all of a sudden it is March... whoops!

In an attempt to make up for my lack of blogging, I am going back to some wonderful cakes and other sweets that I created late last year that I just have to share with you all.

This gorgeous set of sweets (above) that I created was on behalf of Little Sooti, who styled a beautiful christening at the St. Katherine's restaurant in Kew, Victoria.

Ruffles, ombre tangerine and pretty petals - it all came together beautifully (despite the hot weather that was threatening to melt everything in sight that week in November!).
