Class with Jacqueline Butler of Petalsweet

I was so unbelievably lucky to travel to San Diego, USA at the end of March to spend three days, one-on-one, with the amazingly talented Jacqueline Butler of Petalsweet.

I have always admired Jacqueline's work with hand crafted sugar flowers, and for those who have not yet had the pleasure of seeing her work, you MUST visit her page.  You really will be blown away by the intricate details of her flowers and just how lifelike they are.  Truly works of art!

Jacqueline herself was such a down to earth and lovely person, and extremely patient when teaching me how to make some of her beautiful blooms (not to mention looking after me during my sudden onset of food poisoning... holy embarrassment!).

I can't wait to be able to get some more practice with these gorgeous flowers over the coming months, and will be sure to be the first student in class when Jacqueline next visits Melbourne!!

All you need is Love

Its official - I am the worst blogger on the planet!  As you can see only two posts ago, I vowed that this year I was going to blog more, and ta-da! it's May already and we're only up to post number 3.....

Anyway, despite my terrible blogging efforts, I wanted to share this gorgeous little "All you need is Love" cake that I have created before, but this time in a different colour scheme.

I was so excited to finally be able to recreate some of the flowers that I learnt while I was overseas in San Diego, USA with Jacqueline Butler from Petalsweet and I think they just looked so elegant and sweet on top of this little wedding cake.  They are a cosmos flower and a ranunculus (two of my favourite flowers).
